SEPO Community Emails: September 2024

From SEPO Facebook 2024-09-28: Availability of Water in Irrigation Canal -

There is currently no water in our irrigation canal. They have not given us a day when the water will return. Please handle accordingly.     - Randy Davis (from SEPO Facebook)     SEPO Board

From SEPO Facebook 2024-09-28: UPDATE: Texas Avenue Dog Park -

The area is still wet as you can see by the water in the gutter from the pump.

But we’re hoping that by next week it’ll be dry enough to finish burying the electric conduit for the sump pump. If it’s still pumping, Lalo said he would be collecting that water from the pump, to water the plants in the area since the resaca is still dry.     - Tom Perrier   Director Area 2

From SEPO Facebook 2024-09-26: Harlingen spraying for mosquitos -

Hey all! Harlingen is going to spray for mosquitoes tonight starting at 7pm going to 11/12pm. So I’m going to have the gate open till I see them come thru. Please keep the streets clear during this time.

For clarification,

The city will start spraying in district 2 (which includes Sunshine Estates) at 7:00 pm today.

I don’t know when they will be coming thru Sunshine but it is supposed to be this evening.

I will close the gate when I see them coming through the community.

Hope that answers any questions.

Thx

- Tom Perrier,   Director Area 2

Any information you can provide for new homeowners OR a reminder to others about the various activities and meetings in the "MARK YOUR CALENDAR" document HERE, would be beneficial. And even if you don't have all of the information finalized by the Newsletter deadline, at least put 'what you do know so far' or even just a 'Save the Date' sentence in the Newsletter.

Updated Newsletter Guidelines, dated Aug 1, 2024, are posted on the website HERE.

Prior Newsletters, which you can use as examples, can be found HERE.

Sent 2024-09-19: Texas Ave Dog Area -

Hello All!

Lalo is setting a permanent sump pump in the fenced dog area on Texas Ave. The rain has slowed down the project and there are exposed power cords on the ground. When he gets the water pumped down enough it will be buried. So we’re closing the area at least till Monday.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

- Tom Perrier,     Director Area 2

Sent 2024-09-19: SEPO Enews Emails -

Throughout the summer I have often pulled SEPO Activities info directly from the SEPO Facebook page and sent emails to the community. That hasn't been as issue for me since things are normally fairly slow at Sunshine during the summer.

However, things are going to be picking up here very quickly (both at Sunshine and with me personally) and I would like everyone to go back to the pre-SEPO Facebook practice of sending the info you would like published in SEPO emails directly to me at the email address in my signature below. Email guidelines are HERE.

Doing this, along with it still being published on Facebook if you wish, will ensure all pertinent info gets to the community, particularly to those who don't use Facebook. And I won't worry if I don't get to Facebook every day !!!

Please contact me with any questions/concerns.

Thx and hope to see everyone soon.

Sent 2024-09-10: REMINDER (first): OCT 2024 Newsletter Articles Due by End of Day SEP 24, 2024 -

Yes - It's that time of year already. The Sunshine Community 2024-2025 Winter Season (10-01-2024 thru 03-31-2024) is almost here. And I've volunteered to create your Sunshine Newsletter again this year.

I made an executive decision last weekend. Since some of this winter season's activities start right off the bang near the beginning of October, I think sending the first reminder that the October 2024 Newsletter articles are due by end of day on the 24th of this month (September) is warranted. All articles need to be submitted to seponewsletter@gmail.com. And, if at all possible, please don't wait until you get the next reminder (later in September) to send me your articles. But, if you are waiting for as many details as possible to be finalized, I totally understand.

This is a super way to get the word out about upcoming activities. Even if you don't have all of the information finalized by the Newsletter deadline, at least put 'what you do know so far' or even just a 'Save the Date' sentence in the Newsletter.

Updated Newsletter Guidelines, dated Aug 1, 2024, are posted on the website HERE.

Prior Newsletters, which you can use as examples, can be found HERE.

Let's fill this Newsletter with all kinds of good info for the Sunshine Community. Please contact me with any issues/questions.

Sent 2024-09-09: NEED YOUR HELP: How about updating the Sunshine Website Home Page picture? -

I've been on the Sunshine Website today and in looking at the Home Page I thought - why don't I ask the Sunshine Community if anyone has a super cool picture(s) that I can put on this page, since either the current one or the one of our pool area has been out there for at least the last four years.

If you have a pic or some pics you would like me to consider, please email them to me at the email address below. And if I get several I'll just keep switching them out every few week.

Thanks in advance for your input - especially since this is YOUR Website.

The Activity list is always available HERE. Please make sure you keep her updated with pertinent website info as decisions are made by your committees ongoing.

Just a reminder for all the chairpeople out there, I'm doing things a little different this year in that I would like to attend the first planning meeting for each event so that I can give you and your committee the activity guidelines and checklists. In addition I'll be there to answer any questions you may have or direct you to someone that can.

I'm looking forward to seeing you all again. Let's have a great 2024-25 season!

Sent 2024-09-01: Karaoke -

It’s been a while since we’ve had karaoke party, so let’s get together and sing and dance on Friday, September 6. As a reminder, you don’t have to sing, but we’d love to have you come support those that do. Doors will open at 4:30 and we’ll start singing at 5pm. If you want to bring a snack, feel free to do so, but it is absolutely not necessary. It’s about singing and not eating. We’ll probably go for a couple of hours, so if you’ve never checked it out, stick your head in and see what’s happening. I think you’ll have a good time.
