Stained Glass Class

Sent 2025-01-01: STAINED GLASS CLASS STARTS THURSDAY JAN 9TH -

Stained glass classes will start Thursday, Jan 9th,   from 6:30 to about 8:30 p.m.

These sessions are for all residents and renters who are interested in trying your hand at stained glass.  We have many donated items, such as patterns, tools, glass, etc., so you need nothing but your own imagination, and your two hands, and a desire to try this art form.  Classes are held in the woodshop, which is located in the storage area, and you will need your front gate clicker in order to enter.  There is no exact order for the classes, so if you miss a week, that is not a problem.  I am hoping to have a few other glass artists to assist in helping people feel more comfortable working with the glass.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.  If I don't answer, please leave me a voicemail and I will promptly return your call.

SCCE Fishing Association

Sent 2024-11-01: SCCE Fishing Association -

All Sunshine Residents -

On Wednesday Nov 13, The SCCE Fishing Association, a fishing group of Sunshine Residents, Renters & Guests who want to learn about saltwater fishing meet at Retzlaff Hall at 6:00PM. We had an open discussion about our fishing experiences from the month before. We also try to have an expert speaker, a Guide Captain or someone who knows about a style of fishing. That includes where to fish, baits to use, type of tackle to use etc. We start with zero knowledge. We have poles and tackle you can use to get started before you invest in your own. You all are invited to come to the meeting and check us out. After our open discussion and speaker, you are welcome to stay for our business meeting. If you decide to participate with our group there is a small lifetime participation fee. Hope to see you there. Feel free to contact the President of the Association Bill Peterson @309-945-2108.

Palm Frond Painting Class (Nov 18, 2024)  COMPLETE

SEPO Facebook 2024-11-19:

We had such a good time yesterday painting palm fronds! It’s always amazing what great things our residents can create. Some copied, some traced and some just created!

Sent 2024-11-17: REMINDER, Free Palm Frond Painting Class -

Reminder: Free painting event sponsored by the rock painting club Monday at noon in the Hall!

We have washed, bleached and dried palm fronds for you to decorate your way. I’m not an artist but I can copy so I made this snowman. I used half a frond and in between coats of paint I dried it with a hair dryer so it went pretty fast. Come join us and we will provide everything you need to make a pretty Christmas decoration.
