Sent 2024-12-19: 2025 SEPO Election Committee: Need volunteers -  

Hi All – As I said several times during last year's election, I had a super super team of residents who assisted me on the Election Committee. However, this year,  personal circumstances / other commitments are prohibiting a lot of them from participating in this process again. 

 

Therefore, I am looking for some of the rest of you to step up and assist me in the process this year. Last year I learned a lot and we also had some 'lessons learned', which should make things go a little smoother this time around. And I for one, had a fun time heading this committee, working with my friends/neighbors, knowing I was serving this great community.

 

FYI - The bulk of the work for the Election Committee won’t be starting until after the Jan 7, 2025 “Residents & Directors” meeting. At that meeting the Election Committee receives the nominees’ names and we hit the ground running. I'm already working with Valerie to prep as much of the packets as we can now. Mailings need to be done by Jan 18, 2025 this time.

I have updated the Resident Name/Address Directories and also the Email Directory as the first step in order to prepare the 2025 SEPO Election packets. I am continuing to work with the Office to ensure both the website and the Office directories are in sync. Thank you so much to those of you who replied to my request for any updates. If you could just take a glance at the updated docs to ensure I have entered the revisions you sent me correctly. And if anyone who didn't previously reply, you may still do so for a few more days. Birding and Nature Club

Upcoming Events

 

Join us Monday, December 23, for a bird walk around our neighborhood. We will meet at the gazebo at 9:00 AM then set out to experience the beautiful and diverse birds and wildlife in our community. 

 

The next Birding and Nature Club meeting will be held January 6, 2025 in Retzlaff Hall at 7:00 PM. Our featured speaker will be local naturalist and indigenous plant expert Mike Heep of Heep’s Nursery here in Harlingen. Mike is a wealth of knowledge regarding native plants and their attractive properties for birds, butterflies and bees. All are welcome to come and enhance your understanding of this beautiful community we live in.

  • Do you have an interest in getting some exercise while having some fun at the same time?

  • Then come join us on Friday afternoons for table tennis/ping pong at Retzlaff Hall.

  • Don't worry about equipment, as we have extra paddles and plenty of balls.

  • Bring a friend or come alone.

Hi All - I'm working on preparing the SEPO 2025 Election Materials Packets. So there's no better time than now to verify that the SEPO Office Resident Directory is up-to-date with all of every residents' current/correct information.

You can view/download the document that needs to be verified directly from HERE and also from the Sunshine website HERE.

With this first 'ASK' of you I need you to verify or correct each piece of info, including phone numbers, in your line item(s).

I would thoroughly appreciate - by end of day next Tuesday (Dec 17), at the latest, an email reply either way - 

• Yes - my info is correct (or just say yes in your reply)

• No - and then include what changes need to be made.

Members of the SEPO Board Nominating Committee are made up of:

We have met and are in the process of locating talented SEPO Homeowner volunteers who would like to serve on the SEPO Board of Directors or who would be willing to assist the Secretary or Treasurer in their positions. Experience and willingness to learn and grow is a plus for homeowners (or their spouses) wishing to volunteer.

We need to fill four of the current Board members' positions whose terms are ending in February 2025.

 

There are a total of seven positions that make up the SEPO Board and they are:

• Officers: President, Secretary and Treasurer

• Director Golf Course

• Director Common Area 1 (SEPO Buildings)

• Director Common Area 2 (Streets, Drainage & Irrigation Ditches and Texas Ave)

• Director Common Area 3 (Storage & Shop Area, Tennis/Shuffleboard).

 

Who ends up holding each of these positions is determined at the required Organizational Meeting held immediately following the Annual Meeting in February each year. This means a Board member may hold a position this year but may not necessarily retain that position during their second year. It’s up to the Board members to make this determination amongst themselves.

 

If you are undetermined as to whether you would like to serve on the SEPO Board, please ask yourself the following:

• Do you have ideas about how your community can be managed more efficiently?

• Would you like to become more involved in your HOA's daily operation?

• Do you have the time, dedication, and enthusiasm to regularly volunteer your skills for the benefit of your community?
   

If you would like to be considered as a SEPO Board Candidate, please contact any Nominating Committee member to set up an interview. If you know a homeowner (or their spouse) who you think would make a valuable Board member, please contact the Nominating Committee.
