I am wondering if anyone would be interested in participating in a hibachi dinner night here at our hall in early August? There is a high end hibachi restaurant that does events in communities. They would bring the tables, chairs, plates, utensils, food, chefs, they would cook the meal at the table in front of us and they would do all of the cleanup. 

Just an idea.. Please let me know if you have any interest. Thanks!

In the late morning of Wednesday, April 24th, we will begin aerating the greens on the golf course. It will probably take two (2) days. The course will remain open; however, some of the holes will be closed while work is being done. Also, the greens will be a little rough. This is all based on weather permitting. Dear Friends,

 

SCCE plans for Memorial Day Holiday:   Monday –  27 May 2024             

* Realizing our program will be two-fold = the Program followed by a Potluck. 

John & I cannot look after both facets, so we will need Program help and a Potluck committee.  Lenore will keep in constant communication. Everyone is cordially invited to assist & participate. 

 

In the past, our Sunshine Memorial Day Program generally included a Golf Cart Parade, a small quality Memorial Day presentation at the Gazebo, followed by a break so folks can get their dish and then return for the Potluck. 

 

Preceding the Potluck, there will be a marching Flag presentation into Retz Hall and the colors posted.  Then we begin…...  (Signup sheets in Library)

 

I have plans for the street Golf Cart Parade and a patriotic program at the Gazebo.  Hope that you can obtain help for the Potluck side, please. 

 

MEMORIAL DAY -- City of Harlingen – they will have a Candlelight Ceremony at Veterans Memorial at Pendleton Park on Thursday the 30th of May at 7:30 pm (1425 Morgan Blvd, Harlingen)  The Public is invited.

Please be mindful of irrigation water usage. We have been fortunate to date, but it may not last forever. I would suggest watering your lawn no more than 3 times per week, less is even better (mine is once a week and I've never had an issue). If there is any measurable rain, please hold off watering. If you need help resetting your sprinkler timer, let me or a SEPO employee know, and we will help. If you need a moisture meter to see how your lawn is being affected with less watering, let me or a SEPO employee know, and we will let you borrow one. I just wanted to let everyone know that I will have very limited ability to send SEPO emails from noon this Friday until probably late Monday or even Tuesday. I should be able to send items overnight on Sat & Sun only.

I want to give a huge Thank You to Michael Bricker for keeping the Sunshine "Mr. Fix-It List" updated on the website the past few years. Michael has recently moved away from Sunshine.
