Sent 2023-01-26: Good Neighbor Day Golf Tournament (GNDGT) info -

Hello Sunshine Friends and Neighbors,

The 37th annual Good Neighbor Day Golf Tournament (GNDGT) on March 2-4th is fast approaching. This is a 27-hole, 3-day golf scramble, with an awards dinner on Saturday evening. We have had more than 180 people participate in this event in the past. It is a fun tournament for 55+ aged persons. Each year we encourage Sunshine Country Club residents to participate in any way they are most comfortable. We know that everyone is not a golfer, but this event is a perfect way to get involved in our community and “Let the Sunshine In!”

Although the GNDGT Committee will purchase many gifts for the Award Dinner, in the past, we asked residents to consider preparing a gift basket and donating it for the drawing/awards dinner. Gift baskets have been a great success as a personal prize during the awards dinner. Many residents donated these baskets, which the recipients greatly appreciated during the drawing.

This year we would also like to open the possibility of Donations. If you would like to participate with a donation, here are some ideas: Gift baskets valued at $25- $50, filled with “new items,” (In past years, many of the baskets were filled with items of their favorite sports team or “New” items purchased from any local retailer or even your hometown). You might consider donating a Gift Card. You can donate any amount from local retailers, including restaurants. Direct monetary donations are also welcome; don’t hesitate to contact the committee chair to make this happen.

Gift baskets and other donations must be received before the March 2nd event date.

Our goal is to have fun before and during this event!

Don't hesitate to contact the GNDGT Chairperson, Tony Tramel, at 337-693-6344 or trtramel@gmail.com regarding donations and/or other questions.

Respectfully,

Good Neighbor Day Golf Tournament Committee

Re: our Saturday, Jan 7th plans to meet and paint with the youngsters at Sunny Glen Children's Home:
the meeting and painting of rocks with the children was postponed until sometime during their March Spring Break.

Plans changed due to Illness at the home, but we delivered the painted rocks, treats & a special "donated" gift to a representative of the home. We kept all of the small painted rocks for later. Thanks to all who prepared "chalked", painted, and decorated rocks for the "kids". I'm sure they loved what they received from us. The representatives were very appreciative.

Reminder: Sunshine Garden Club Get Together

When: Tuesday, January 10, 2023
Where: Retzlaff Hall
Time: 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Topic of the evening: "My Favorite Native Plants"

Please join us along with Janet Schofield, Cameron County Master Gardener, providing an educational class on Native Plants. You may ask yourself, why native plants for my landscape?

Janet provides information on the benefits of planting native plants, which help under these conditions. Landscaping with native plants can save you money, time, water and resources. They have better resistance to our weather; require less maintenance and sometimes no fertilizer or pesticides needed.

All are welcome. Come February we will plan a trip to a park which features native plants.

Sent 2023-01-05: Information Meeting outcome -

Thank you to everyone who attended the ‘Information Meeting’ Tuesday where there was great discussion of the ballots which are being proposed for you to vote on in the 2023 SEPO Election.

Many residents had questions, suggestions, opinions etc. during the Information meeting. Several residents stated the ‘rumors’ they were hearing around the community. We hope residents left the meeting feeling prepared to vote on the proposed ballots. This meeting was not on Google Meet, and therefore, not recorded. We are asking those in attendance to assist in answering questions etc and clearing up rumors they have heard from their friends and neighbors. In fact, the final statement at the meeting was from a resident asking the attendees to do just that.

As was stated during the meeting, these ballots are not proposals to benefit the Board. They are not ‘for’ the Board. They are proposals from the Board that we hope you believe will benefit the entire community.

The ballots have been on the Web site for a few days now HEREPLEASE NOTE: These ballots have not yet been delivered to Owners. The Board will be taking one final look at them during the Jan 10 Board meeting. It’s possible some modifications may be made, before turning them over to the Election Committee to start processing them.

Sincerely, SEPO Board

Sent 2023-01-05: Sunshine Web site - Residents Only: Password change to occur this weekend -

I will be updating the Sunshine Web site "password" to the Residents Only section around 8 PM this Friday, Jan 6. It will probably take about 30 minutes. I will send an email containing the new password as soon as I have finished.

As always, this password should be kept confidential to only 'current' Sunshine Residents and Renters, due to the personal information of our residents that is housed on these pages.
